FROM ARTIST TO CREATIVE HOUSE
My name is Shane Bowden.
For more than twenty-five years I have dedicated my life to creating art.
As an internationally recognised contemporary Neo-Expressionist and Pop artist, my work has been exhibited throughout Australia, the United States, Japan and Europe, appearing in major private collections, museums, hotels, television productions and films around the world.
My paintings have been finalists in Australia's most prestigious portrait prizes, including the Archibald Prize and Doug Moran Portrait Prize, while my work has received international recognition through the Global Art Awards in Tokyo and Amsterdam.
My artwork has appeared in productions including Sex and the City, John Wick 2, The Big Bang Theory, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Selling Sunset, Million Dollar Decorators, The Carrie Diaries and many others.
But my journey has never been confined to the studio.
Between 2005 and 2009, I served as Chief Executive Officer of Peter Lik Fine Art in the United States. During that period, I helped transform the business from a successful gallery operation into one of the world's largest fine art companies, growing annual revenues from approximately US$6 million to more than US$120 million while expanding internationally across multiple countries.
That experience taught me something few artists ever learn.
Art is not simply something that hangs on a wall.
It has the power to transform homes, hotels, workplaces, architecture, hospitality, fashion, furniture and the everyday objects that surround us.
It can shape how people feel.
That idea became the foundation of Mofisto.
WELCOME TO MOFISTO
Mofisto is not simply an art company.
It is a contemporary creative house built on one simple belief:
Everything Begins With Art.
Every product starts with an original artistic idea.
Sometimes that idea becomes a painting.
Sometimes it becomes a sculpture.
Furniture, Lighting, Homewares., Fashion, Objects, Architectural installations, Collectibles.
Or something that has never existed before.
The medium changes. The artistic philosophy never does.
Today Mofisto operates internationally with creative studios and distribution across the United States, Australia and Europe, working with collectors, interior designers, architects, developers, luxury hotels and homeowners who believe that creativity deserves a place in everyday life.
HANDMADE. MADE TO ORDER.
One of the biggest problems facing modern retail is overproduction.
Companies manufacture thousands—sometimes millions—of products before they know whether anyone actually wants them.
Warehouses fill.
Products remain unsold.
Returns accumulate.
Eventually, enormous quantities of perfectly usable goods are discarded.
We wanted to build something fundamentally different.
Every original artwork produced by Mofisto is painted by hand only after it has been ordered.
Every piece of merchandise, apparel and many of our homewares are produced only when a customer places an order.
Nothing sits in warehouses waiting to be sold.
Nothing is manufactured simply to fill shelves.
Nothing is created because forecasts predicted demand.
Instead, every piece is created for someone.
This approach reduces unnecessary inventory, avoids large volumes of unsold stock and supports a more thoughtful, demand-driven way of creating products.
-
CREATIVITY WITHOUT COMPROMISE
Made-to-order production doesn't mean compromising on quality.
Quite the opposite.
Every painting carries the subtle variations, texture and individuality that only hand-created work can achieve.
Every object begins with original artwork rather than trend forecasting.
Every collection is designed with longevity in mind rather than a single retail season.
We are interested in creating pieces people will still love ten years from now—not products designed to be replaced in ten weeks.
-
LOOKING BEYOND THE CANVAS
Mofisto's vision extends beyond creating art.
We believe tomorrow's creative companies must also rethink how products are designed, manufactured and given new life.
In the years ahead, Mofisto will continue exploring innovative ways to transform reclaimed materials, surplus inventory and overlooked resources into new works of design, furniture, sculpture and collectible objects.
Waste should not always be viewed as rubbish.
Sometimes it is simply creativity waiting for another beginning.
A DIFFERENT KIND OF LUXURY
Luxury is no longer about excess.
Luxury is about originality.
About craftsmanship.
About authenticity.
About owning something created specifically for you.
Every Mofisto piece carries the fingerprint of an artist.
Every order supports makers instead of mass production.
Every creation begins with imagination rather than inventory.
Because the future of design isn't about making more things.
It's about making better things.
Thoughtfully.
Responsibly.
Beautifully.
Everything Begins With Art.
